My name is Remy Gordon. I have a nonprofit (501c3 status) called Seeking Shelter. One of the major components of what I do is provide outreach to people experiencing homelessness. There are countless numbers of people here in Miami who are unsheltered due to shelters being full, safety concerns, substance abuse, and severe mental health issues. These are the people that I serve on a daily basis. I go to the areas that they congregate in and get to know them and their needs. I provide food, hygiene products, blankets (or anything soft to make the streets more tolerable to sleep on) and clothing items to them. I sit with them and talk with them and hear their stories; show them respect and treat them with dignity.
