We are a non-profit 501(c)3 that serves individuals escaping domestic abuse, aid neglected and abused children, preserve housing for the economically disadvantaged, and protect vulnerable populations such as senior citizens, veterans, and developmentally disabled individuals. Our team works tirelessly to improve low-income families’ financial self-sufficiency; promote their safety and well-being, in addition to improving their economic stability by resolving legal problems that inhibit their ability to meet their basic needs. Over the last year, we were honored to assist 981 families including 1126 children with their legal needs, like Hollie and her family.
Hollie applied for assistance with a dissolution of marriage action against her estranged husband who had committed several acts of domestic violence against her and their young, special needs child. Our office provided representation to Hollie in obtaining a dissolution of marriage from her abusive husband. With our assistance, Hollie filed for and obtained, at trial, a final judgment of dissolution of marriage which provided her with sole parental responsibility and supervised/restricted timesharing for the husband. Hollie also obtained an order of child support, equitable distribution of their martial debts and the relief of knowing that the marriage to her abusive, husband had ended.Â
