ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:

Sherwood Forest provides dynamic programs and immersive outdoor experiences that inspire and empower youth from under-resourced communities to discover their resilience, prepare for their future, and embrace their civic responsibility.

Through an evidence-based residential camp experience and year-round programming, we enable young people growing up in underserved communities to become economically self-sufficient adults with healthy family and social relationships and strong connections in their communities.

Sherwood Forest is a proud member of United Way and accredited by the American Camp Association.

PROGRAMS:

1. Quest is anchored in a month-long summer camp experience and supported by year-round engagement. We offer both experiential adventures and evidence-based programs that focus on helping kids develop the social-emotional skills and academic attitudes necessary to succeed in school and later in life.

2. Supports for Success prepares Quest program alumni for college and career success. Students learn financial literacy, explore career interests, and are supported through the college and financial aid application processes.

3. Outdoor Education partners with schools and youth organizations to provide their students with an experiential education curriculum. Outdoor Education helps school partners reach both academic and development goals for their students. Outdoor Education also gives urban children an essential connection to nature.

OUR IMPACT:

- Since 1937, we have supported more than 30,000 young people in discovering the best in themselves as they grow up to do good in the world.

- More than 250 kids in 1st through 9th grades attend camp annually and build skills in teamwork, independence, responsibility, self-confidence, and problem-solving.

- 75% of our campers return each year, allowing us to build long-term relationships with the kids we serve.

- 100% of Alumni from our Leadership Program graduate from high school.
