Shine Through the Rain provides financial support for patients with life-threatening illnesses. We help pay for overdue rent, past due utilities, transportation costs (such as hospital parking) and grocery cards while patients are in treatment to help support them and their families.
91% of patients of a life-threatening illness go into debt struggling to pay for medication, travel to hospitals and specialists, special diets and supplements, and many other new costs on top of their usual bills. Most patients take significant time off work or stop working completely and spouses or parents often stop working or take time off as well to support the patient, causing a drastic loss of income for the family. Shine Through the Rain does our best to keep these families going - with a roof over their heads, lights, heat and hydro, food and a way to get to and from hospital visits.
