Shining Star Children's Advocacy Center works with children and families who have been affected by child abuse. Shining Star CAC serves over 200 children each year with vital services such as child forensic interviews (as part of child abuse investigations), specialized abuse medical exams, court and community advocacy to families, individual and group trauma counseling, and community education on child abuse. We serve children ages 3-18 years old and their families, as well as disabled adults who have experienced abuse in Lee and Ogle counties in IL. We receive referrals of children from police and child protection services.
The mission of Shining Star CAC is to transform child victims of abuse into survivors.
