Side by Side of Laurel, Inc. engages, equips, and encourages parents to partner with schools to promote their children's success in the classroom. Our signature program, Great Start, is a series of workshops for parents on the topics of managing child behavior/developing social skills, helping with reading, writing, math, and S.T.E.M. learnings. Approximately 16 workshop sessions are held each school year. The workshop evenings begin with a free meal for the family to eat together and then free supervised child care for children ages 3 and up while parents learn with Prince George's County Public School teachers and other specialists in the field of early childhood education.
