The Association for Public Interest Law (“APIL”) is composed of SMU Dedman School of Law students who wish to dedicate their careers to public service. Each year, we organize a spring auction to benefit SMU law students who take unpaid public sector work over the summer. APIL serves many purposes including:

·      Raising awareness of the public sector and pro bono work through panels and community events;

·      Helping students explore the ways in which attorneys address social issues and effectuate change; and

·      Raising money to provide stipends for outstanding law students who have secured volunteer legal placements
