My name is Tammi Fort and I am one of the five co-founders of SOAR Charter Academy, a public and tuition free elementary school. SOAR was founded by teachers with over 60 combined years of experience in education with strong beliefs about how children learn. We are a non-profit public benefit organization and are seeking support from parents, community members and businesses through donations of supplies, services, and monies. Our governing board is interested in creating lasting relationships with supporters of our Mission and Vision. SOAR Charter Academy is located in an impoverished part of San Bernardino and will be serving children in kindergarten through 8th .
SOAR Charter Academy's vision is to provide a dynamic standards-based education for every child in our diverse community using an integrated curriculum stressing academic excellence and character development. We believe in educating the whole child and preparing them to be active citizens in our community.
SOAR's mission of providing an exemplary and well-rounded K-8 education will be accomplished by integrating an academic and social curriculum. Our program will require that every student apply what he or she learns in character education in a variety of community service projects.
SOAR prides itself not only on our academic program but also on showcasing the artistic talents of our students throughout the year. One such occasion is through our full production Christmas play. SOAR rents out the Sturges Center for the Fine Arts in San Bernardino, for two nights of the production. The theater rental cost as well as the cost for all costumes and props is paid for through SOAR’s budget and donations. At this time we are asking for a donation for the raffle during the play on December 18, 2018.
