Solving The Puzzle promotes inclusive communites and work environments. Our mission is to provide fulfilling employment opportunities for persons with special needs. We developed this team and collection of support services with the hopes, dreams and abilities of our daughter and other people living with disabilities in mind.
What we do is simple. Through community projects, training, and advocacy we offer support to people living with disabilities and their families. We focus on connecting those we serve with inclusive opportunites through our various projects and partnerships in the community.
Our first project is to create a cafe in our hometown of Altoona, PA, called Casey's Cafe, named after our daughter Casey. Casey is on the autism spectrum and is the inspiration of our cafe. It's been her dream to have a place where she can do her favorite things...cooking and sharing with others.
We are currently fundraising to raise enough for the pre-opening startup costs for the cafe. Our intention is to open early next spring following fundraising, remodeling of our selected site and startup / training efforts.
We are currently working with the Penn State Launchbox and other local agencies for assistance with business planning. There has been a great deal of community support and outreach for Casey's Cafe, as can be seen from the comments on our project Facebook page (Casey's Cafe Altoona), and we are excited to see Casey's dream come to fruition.
