Soroptimist International of Greater Davis is a local non-profit to benefit women and children. We provide 2- $2000 grants annually to a woman head of household enrolled in school to improve her education and earnings to assist in a better life for her dependents. We also provide a $1000 grant to a high school senior who has overcome challenges in life. This is not grade driven. Support is also given to local entities such as the Yolo Crisis Nursery which provides temporary care for young children of families in crisis and Multi-Disciplinary Interview Center (MDIC) which provides unique, single child depositions of childen who may have been abused. The interview is taken in a non-threatening environment where various prosecuting or service agencies can give questions via earphone for the interview. The interview is taped, and admissable in court. With these services there has been an increase in conviction rates. An annual golf tournament is our major fundraiser. This year, 2022, is both our partner and beneficary of proceeds from the charity golf tournament.
