Hello to my Fellow Community Member,

My name is Krissy and I am a proud Newmarket resident. I have long supported our local businesses as well as our community resources; which are so important now more than ever. In that spirit, I would like to invite you to join me in support of our hospital, the Southlake Regional Health Centre!

The Run For Southlake takes place on April 24th and it is my hope that my Team, Baby, I Was Born To Run can raise $26,000 with all donations supporting the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). In an effort to further our fundraising efforts, we will be hosting an online auction that will begin April 9, with bidding to close April 15.  We are asking businesses to support us by donating goods, services or gift certificates to be auctioned. Donated items will prominently feature a photo as well as a description, promoting your products and/or services.

As a brief background, I’ll share my motivation for setting my ambitious goal. In 2017, our twin boys entered our world 8 weeks early. They were unable to breathe independently and were rushed to the NICU for urgent care. Connor and Kyle experienced significant difficulties in many areas, but the team of doctors, nurses and therapists at Southlake were phenomenal and always remained compassionate. During our 26 days in the NICU, we watched the NICU team work miracles, not just with our children but for many other little ones as well. Their tireless effort and constant care for our most vulnerable and teeniest people is what drives me to give back and support future NICU families.

This year I will run 2.6km every hour, on the hour... for 26 hours consecutively!    Yes, that means I will not sleep and I will run in the middle of the night.  The configuration 26 is meaningful as our twins stayed at Southlake for 26 days and it is with that in mind, that I set my goal.  This translates to 67.6km in 26 hours!  My Run will begin bright and early on Saturday 23rd and I will finish my final 5km together with my family and teammates as we will run together at the In-Person event (April 24), along Davis Drive, in front of Southlake!
