Philadelphia's SquashSmarts is a free intensive out-of-school time program supporting the lives of Philadelphia public school students from some of the poorest neighborhoods in the city. SquashSmarts was founded in 2001 in response to a void in available high-quality afterschool sports-based youth development programs. SquashSmarts was the third squash-and-education program established nation side as a formal 501c3 non-profit academic and athletic mentoring program.
We have grown over the past 21 years and serve around 500 students annually with our 3 prongs of service: afterschool program which is a seven-year, one-hour of academic and one of squash- 3 days a week commitment, community program which is an outreach to our local partner schools, and career and workforce programs which prepare our student for their future!
We have evolved into an award-winning non-profit with a proven track record of keeping kids in school, in shape, and on track for graduation. We are extraordinarily proud of our program and more importantly our students, families and alumni whose dedication is apparent weekly!
