Greetings from Saint John Paul the Great High School! As parents of two current
students (Class of 2026 and 2028), we are excited to bring you the 2025 Mardi Gras Gala. Working
with Amy Thomason from the Office of Advancement at JP, we expect this will be the best Gala to
date.
Some great things to know about Saint John Paul the Great HS:
We are a Catholic High School in the Arlington Diocese with almost 700 students.
We follow the Dominican tradition of prayer, study, community, and service.
JP offers faculty with advanced degrees (70%), fifteen dual enrollment courses, over twenty
student clubs, twenty-two sports programs, and a 100% graduation rate.
Our students have earned over $20 million in college scholarships.
Over 80% of the students at JP participate in at least one sport, with more than 50% of
student-athletes going on to play college sports.
Our academic program includes: Bioethics, Religion, Mathematics, Science and Labs, Social
Studies, World Languages, Fine Arts (Drama, Music and Visual Arts), Physical Education,
Communications, and Media Arts.
In January 2024, our drama teacher, Mr. Paul Hope, was honored as the Virginia Thespian
High School Theatre Teacher of the Year.
This year's Mardi Gras Gala will host around 180 attendees. The program includes a silent
auction, a live auction, information about donors, and an appeal. This is JP's biggest fundraising
event of the year, as tuition alone does not provide all of the funding needed for student
programs. Funds raised will help support academics, the arts, athletics, leadership programs,
mentoring opportunities, professional development of faculty, retreat experiences for our
students, and tuition assistance. Your sponsorship is essential to our success. Thank you for your
consideration.
We graciously ask if you or your organization will assist us with a donation or sponsorship.
