The mission & purpose of Studio 155th is to contribute to the healing, uniting, and strengthening of the community of Harvey, IL by integrating media arts back into the fabric of community life. Our goal is to provide a safe environment for all residents to explore media arts. Studio 155th Community Outreach & Public Media is a non-for-profit corporation which seeks to strengthen and unite the City of Harvey’s school, library, and park districts’ populations by exploring the arts via media publication. Through project-based funding and in kind donations, the organization has operated for ten years. Residents of all ages of the City of Harvey and neighboring suburbs have been given opportunity to learn how to operate media equipment, create music, and facilitate interviews. The current facility houses a studio that allows students of all ages to perform news reports, practice musical simulations, and learn the use of all equipment needed in the entire media experience. Studio 155th provides training and education in various mediums of the arts. Currently, the studio consists of rooms where different forms of art can be explored. Some new media equipment has been purchased and existing equipment has been upgraded to give the community state of the art experiences while visiting Studio 155th. Trained, licensed, and seasoned staff work with the citizens to integrate arts back into the fabric of community life. The goal of the organization is to provide for the community access to the arts by constructing and implementing a program that is accessible to the entire community, that provides training of a life-long skill, and that heals and unites the community through compassion and creativity.
