Knights of the Blind

In 1925, Helen Keller attended the Lions Clubs International Convention and challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness." Since that time, Lions have been tireless advocates for the blind and visually impaired.

Today we are 46,000 clubs and 1.4+ million members world-wide. Extending beyond our original mission, our members do whatever is needed to help their local communities. Everywhere we help, we make friends — with children who need eyeglasses and with seniors who are hungry — all while working to make a difference in the lives of others.

On Saturday, May 4th, the Summit Lions Club will host the 2018 Summit Kentucky Derby Party, our 8th annual music and entertainment charity fundraiser. It will include a silent auction featuring gift certificates, theatre and sports tickets, fitness and wellness services and other items. Tickets/vouchers for your facility would be very popular with our attendees; accordingly, any contribution your group can make will help us tremendously in making our 2019 event a success.

Each year, 100% of our Derby Party proceeds go to fund important Lions Foundation projects such as sending blind and visually impaired children to summer camp, providing free eye exams for Summit school children and seniors and supporting our eyeglass recycling program. Our club has been an integral part the Summit community for nearly 90 years, and with your support for this event, we can continue our mission to serve locally, nationally and internationally, wherever there is a need.

Any support you can lend to our fundraiser this year would be greatly appreciated. In recognition of your contribution, we will gladly include your business name on our “Team Lion” sponsor poster at the event and in our Derby Party program. On the silent auction display, we will also include a paragraph about your organization along with the description of the donated item.

Thank you very much for your consideration. If you have any questions about our event or about the Summit Lions Club, please feel free to contact me at 732-803-2135 or via email at summitlionsnj@gmail.com..

Sincerely,
