Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children promotes early identification and intervention for children who are deaf or hard of hearing and helps them develop their maximum potential through listening, spoken language and literacy.

Upon discovery of their daughter’s hearing loss, John H. and Dela White established our school to help her and other children who are deaf or hard of hearing learn to listen and speak. From the humble beginnings of seven students, Sunshine Cottage has grown to be one of the world’s most renowned centers for hearing and speech serving over 600 children.

Core Programs

Our core programs are designed to encourage, guide, and educate in support of the development of listening and language skills.

Newborn Hearing Evaluation Center: Children aged birth through 5 years receive comprehensive diagnostic hearing evaluations following pediatrician referrals.
Parent-Infant Program: This parent-focused, child-driven program is dedicated to counseling parents about hearing loss and advocacy.
Early Childhood and Elementary School: Preschool through 5th-grade children receive a language-based education.

Sunshine Cottage is also a source of educational resources for other professionals and educators around the world. Resources available include curriculums, webinars, and educational kits.
