In the United States, 1 in 8 women is expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Komen is leading the fight against breast cancer, driving innovation and funding innovative breast cancer research. Our work has helped reduce breast cancer mortality rates by 40% since 1989. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and donors, Komen has invested $1.1 billion in breast cancer research since 1982 and helped accelerate breakthroughs for the most aggressive forms of breast cancers. We have provided more than 220,000 patients and families with financial resources and provided support during their challenging journey. We are strongly committed to achieving health equity: ensuring access to high-quality, timely breast health and breast cancer care for all, regardless of race, income, or where someone lives.
