Sutro is a small public school in the Inner Richmond District of San Francisco. Almost 80% of Sutro students are socioeconomically disadvantaged and 60% do not speak English as a primary language. Despite these challenges—and as a testament to the excellent staff and caring learning environment—Sutro students consistently score above district and state levels in reading, math, and science. The school was named a California Distinguished School award in 2023, an honor bestowed to only five schools in SFUSD. Sutro PTA’s mission is to advocate for every student’s safety and welfare and to provide them the opportunity for a quality public education.
