The TAG PTA is a hardworking parent driven organization based in East Harlem, New York City with a goal of funding in-class and enrichment programs to over 550 Kindergarten through 8th grade students that cannot otherwise be sufficiently provided by the public school DOE budget at a time that is more important than ever. With approximately one third of the TAG school students qualifying for free lunch, the direct family fund donations are not enough to keep all the PTA funded programs in place. Situated at the heart of El Barrio in East Harlem, TAG is a public school serving the most ethnically and economically diverse student population of New York City’s five city-wide gifted and talented schools.
Our dedicated school and parent body strives to give TAG students rich and meaningful in-class and extracurricular opportunities. TAG scholars have been champions in chess, debate, math, and spelling competitions. Programs such as these would not be possible without the additional funds raised by the PTA. Proceeds raised by TAG PTA go directly to enriching the lives of our students by funding critical educational resources, including in-class STEM curriculum, language classes, enrichment materials, teaching assistants, a full-time music program and afterschool support.
