Tapestri Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization that is dedicated to ending violence and oppression in refugee and immigrant communities using culturally competent and appropriate methods. As advocates for immigrant and refugee families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and exploitation, Tapestri is committed to using education, direct services, community organizing and advocacy to effect change in the lives of these families.
Our humble beginnings date back to 1996 when advocates representing diverse ethnic communities formed a community coalition to address the unmet and increasing needs of battered refugee and immigrant women in the metro Atlanta area. In 1998, the coalition formally adopted the name “Tapestri” and functioned as a project of the Refugee Women’s Network. In 2002, Tapestri became its own independent organization created to address the needs of immigrant survivors of violence. Since 2002, the organization has evolved to work collaboratively with mainstream and ethnic organizations in addressing multiple forms of violence and oppression occurring within of the state of Georgia.
Tapestri services are truly one of a kind with supportive advocates walking alongside each survivor on their journey to healing and self-sufficiency. In fiscal year 2024, Tapestri’s Programs directly served over 375 survivors. Additionally, Tapestri reached over 1,000 individuals through outreach and training.
