The Mission of Team Maggie's Dream is to provide financial assistance to young women and men with a cancer diagnosis, for the purpose of preserving eggs and sperm. Team Maggie's Dream started in 2015. The charity came about as a result of the personal journey of Maggie Davis, a 24-year-old young woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer. In addition to receiving the devastating news that she had a life-threatening disease, she found out that the toxic drugs needed to save her life can cause infertility. In the rush to initiate the life-saving treatment, she faced the additional burden of identifying funding for fertility preservation. During this journey, the idea was born that there should be a resource available to help young women and men navigate these crises: thus, Team Maggie's Dream, a 501(c)3 was created.
Team Maggie’s Dream offers grants to help fund fertility preservation for qualified men and women with cancer. These young people 15 to 37 years old may be facing a life without the physical ability to have children. Additionally, they have been denied assistance by their medical insurance carrier or do not have insurance.
