Teens growing up today face so many more challenges than we did. You would think that always being attached to social media and the internet would help teens feel more connected. Would it surprise you that Generation Z has been identified as the "Loneliest Generation?" With social isolation from the pandemic along with all the everyday pressures of getting to adulthood, teens today are struggling to find meaningful connections and ways to cope with life's challenges. Can you imagine how much more difficult it can be for a teen who faces food insecurity, poverty, or unhealthy home life?

Teen Life believes that, through Support Groups, students can learn how to overcome life's challenges. Over the last 13 years, Teen Life has served over 11,200 students with the help of 214 volunteers in 35 school districts by providing free Support Groups. Teen Life Support Groups meet on Middle and High school campuses during the school day. Our groups are led by highly trained community volunteers who partner with school counselors to identify students who are struggling and in need of support.

Students who participate in Support Groups regularly report a 20% increase in their hope for the future and a positive sense of self. Support Groups provide a safe space for students to find peer support and build relationships with caring adults. In other words, our teenagers feel less alone and know their community will support them. Teenagers with access to Support Groups are more likely to make better choices as they enter adulthood.
