Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center (TEL HI) is a 135-year-old anchor institution in the San Francisco Bay Area dedicated to enhancing the lives of people in our culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse community. We serve over 1,500 individuals daily through high-quality programs that promote family stability, provide youth with educational opportunities to succeed regardless of their socioeconomic status, and support seniors in maintaining vitality and community connection, often for free or low cost. By focusing on the well-being of individuals and families, TEL HI strengthens the entire community.
We provide the following essential programs and services for individuals at every stage of life:
- Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers: Our two licensed programs offer quality early childhood education and childcare services for 160 infants, toddlers, and preschoolers (ages 3 months to 5 years).
- Children and Youth: Serving over 700 children and youth daily, TEL HI provides after-school academic programs, summer camps, and enrichment activities for elementary, middle, and high school students. Our programs include the Elementary School Academy for younger students and the North Beach-Chinatown Beacon Center at Francisco Middle School, one of twenty-seven school-based centers citywide that are beacons of learning and growth. TEL HI also manages the Youth Center at North Beach Place, a mixed-income housing facility offering free homework help and recreational activities.
- Seniors: Our Senior Program offers nutritious meals, exercise and wellness classes, technology support, field trips, and a variety of workshops for over 700 seniors per day.
In addition to our regular programming, TEL HI rents facility space to numerous community organizations and hosts a variety of large-scale events benefitting the San Francisco region, including annual toy drives, Thanksgiving dinners, and cultural celebrations.
