In 1949, two Albany synagogues, B'nai Israel and Tifereth Israel, merged to form Temple Israel. For generations, our Synagogue has been an egalitarian, USCJ-affiliated Conservative, spiritual, educational, and social home away from home for thousands of community members and families. Temple Israel has a top-notch Nursery program and Early Childhood Center; an outstanding Adult Education focused Jewish Learning Center; a beautiful summer day camp, Camp Givah, located on 250+ acres in nearby Berne, NY; an 800+ seat Main Sanctuary with a stunning and award-winning, stained glass Tree of Life; our premiere gift shop, Hadar Gift & Bookshop; and our clergy and spiritual leaders: Rabbi Wendy Love Anderson and Cantor Rogerio Marx. For over three generations Temple Israel has welcomed members of the greater Albany Jewish Community into our Synagogue and extended family – we hope you will join us and see that Temple Israel is the Synagogue for you.
