The Tex Hill Tiger Band program consists of three Advanced Bands and nine Beginnner Band classes so there is a place for every student! The Tiger Band is an organization that has a family atmosphere, where students take ownership and feel they have a place to belong. We have over 300 members of our Band Family!
We believe that Band not only teaches the skill of playing an instrument, but also teaches skills that students can use in the real world. We want our Band students to be creative and to set goals and figure out ways to reach these goals while working as a team. These skills will prove to be invaluable in everything that they do and are so needed in today's workforce.
Band teaches students to be well-rounded individuals and develops camraderie and friends that are crucial in these middle school years. We believe that a good work ethic and fun go hand in hand so you will not only be good at your instrument, but that you will have FUN EVERY DAY!
The Tiger Band has a reputation of excellence around the state of Texas and the nation. Our Advanced Bands are consistent "Sweepstakes" Award winners at UIL Concert and Sight Reading every year. Both Symphonic and Honors Band have recieved "Superior" and "Best in Class" Awards at the Alamo Showcase of Music, Lone Star Showcase of Music, the Buc Days Showcase of Music, and the Boyou City Classic competitions. Honors Band was also awarded "Overall Outstanding" Band for all four of these contests. In 2017, the Tiger Band was selected to perform at the Tobin Center for the first YOSA Invitational. In 2015, the Band was a TMEA Region, Area, and State Finalist. In 2017 and 2023, the Band was a TMEA Region and Area Finalist. In the Spring of 2020, the Honors Band was invited to perform at the 2021 Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois; Making them the first Concert Band in San Antonio to recieve this prestigious invitation.
