The Texas Association for Play Therapy (TxAPT) is a nonprofit and nonpartisan Texas Corporation. The purpose of TxAPT is to provide a forum for the discussion of play therapy ideas and concerns. The objectives of TxAPT are as follow: seek to advance the discipline of play therapy, conduct and foster programs of education in the field of play therapy, promote sound play therapy practices in the interest of society and the individual; advance high standards of professional conduct by conducting educaitonal and professional meetings and conferences, inform and educate the general public and the mental health community about the play therapy profession, establish contact with organizations for support and educational pursuits, and advocate for the righst of children, their families, and significant others. 

We service licensed mental health clinicians in Texas that are directly working with children and their families concerning their mental health needs. Our membership also includes graduate students in a counseling or counseling related program as well as those who have graduated and have an Associate license and working towards their independent license. We currently have 1,132 members. We provide an annual conference, networking events at our state and national conference, support local chapters throughout Texas, send monthly newlestters, and facilitate outreach services to the community. In our efforts to support play therapy and children's mental health needs, our organization has received the hightest level of recognition, the Gold Branch Award, which is awarded from our national organization, the Association for Play Therapy. We are proud to have received this award 14 times and annually since 2017.
