Founded in 1991, The Caring Foundation of Texas (CFT) is a 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to convening medical providers to offer preventive healthcare services to uninsured and underinsured Texas families. These services include immunizations, dental care, routine screenings, and health education. Since our inception, we have helped 2.5 million Texans access preventive healthcare services statewide.
Our mission is to improve the health of Texas families by connecting them to preventive health services and education in their communities. Our vision is to make Texas healthier by ensuring everyone has access to preventive healthcare education and services.
The Caring Foundation of Texas has two signature programs through which we accomplish our goals: The Care Van® Mobile Program and The Care Van @ School.
The Care Van® Mobile Program is Texas's only non-profit statewide mobile healthcare clinic. We operate 11 Care Vans in Austin, Corpus Christi, El Paso, Odessa, Dallas, San Antonio, and Waco. CFT discovered that lack of access is the number one issue prohibiting uninsured and underinsured Texas families from being immunized. These Care Vans operate in partnership with our Medical Providers and Community Partners.
The Care Van @ School is a school-based immunization program that gives school districts control over the immunization program to tailor it to its needs. CFT identifies school districts with high immunization deficiency rates amongst their uninsured and underinsured student population and provides ongoing program support and guidance. The school district houses the vaccines and must be a Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) approved site (which CFT helps facilitate).
In 2024, The Caring Foundation of Texas served 70,038 people, most of which were children ages 0-19.
