The Center for Family Resources (CFR) is on a mission to move people to self-sufficiency through financial stabilization, housing and education. Since 1960, CFR has provided services for low-income and homeless Cobb County families, meeting a critical need in our community and striving to break the cycle of poverty. CFR stabilizes families in crisis and empowers them to become self-sufficient. With a proven track record of changing lives for over 58 years and serving more than 10,000 annually, CFR strives to be the leader in homelessness prevention in Cobb County.
CFR offers mission-aligned services in three areas:
Direct Services: providing financial assistance for rent and utility payments, food, prescriptions, transportation (bus tickets) and holiday programs to stabilize families in crisis and prevent homelessness. Case management is provided for each family receiving financial assistance to help them assess their circumstances and address the issues leading to their crisis situation.
Housing Services: offering short-term (30-day) and rapid re-housing programs for homeless and near-homeless families. Homeless clients work intensely with a case manager on a housing plan to retun to permanent housing with a lease in their name. Supportive services include assistance with child care, employment and education programs, food and life skills to help develop housing stability and great self-sufficiency.
Employment/Education Services: providing supportive services to homeless and low-income residents to increase their economic capacity through the following services: job readiness and work maturity skills, GED classes, financial management counseling and life management skills classes.
