Each year in the United States, approximately 15,780 children are diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21.  The Cooper Max Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to helping those childern and their families cope with the realities of childhood cancer.  The foundation was created in memory of Cooper Craig Max, a vibrant and brave 4 year old cancer warrior who gained his angel wings March 16, 2016.  Cooper's parents, Heather and Eric Max, along with a dedicated army of his loved ones created the foundation as a way to help other families in similar situations.  The foundation has set up a financial aide request system with Cook Children's Hospital of Fort Worth, families can apply for financial assistance with any delinquent or unpaid household bill such as mortgage, utilities, cell phone.  We also provide angel aide through Cook Children's Hospital, assisting with funeral costs for warriors who gain their wings.  The foundation donates annually to childhood cancer research projects, and annually to extracurricular activies and therapies provided by the hospital for childhood cancer patients.  Cooper Care baskets are given to the family of every single child diagnosed and admitted to Cook Children's Hospital.  This Care package was developed by Cooper's parents, containing things such as bath and shower toiletries, full size towells, a pillow, warm socks, a notebook and pen so that parents can write down diagnosis and treatment plans, medicine doseages, or any other question or thought that they need to remember.  And last but not least, Cooper's mother Heather customizes each basket to contain age appropriate toys and gifts for each warrior, as well as decorative sheets and blankets to make the hospital bed feel more like home.  Heather delivers anywhere from 4-11 baskets a week to the hospital, depending on the need.  The foundation provides meals and goodies to the floor from time to time, gifts for the nurses, and plans fun extras for the patients when possible.  In July 2021 The Cooper Max Foundation hosted 30 children for a day at "Cooper's Corral".  Children battling cancer, children in remission, and the siblings of warriors spent the day riding horses, fishing, competing in a stick horse rodeo and enjoying a hayride complete with a wild west water gun shoot out.  A massive amount of hard working volunteers turned out to make Cooper's Corral Day happen, and it's something that we intend to hold annually from now on. Our mission can be summed up in far fewer words than I just shared.  Quite simply, our mission is to join the fight.  Their battle is our battle, and we take that statement to heart.  Whether it's financial support, research funding, brightening a warriors day, or being a shoulder for parents to lean on, we are here.
