In 2009, The Cowtown Marathon founded the C.A.L.F. program. This initiative provides local underprivileged school children with a free pair of running shoes, a few pairs of socks, and a discounted entry fee into our Kids 5k each year. Prior to 2009, we had seen school children cross the finish line in shoes that were not suitable for running (crocs, vans, flip-flops, etc.). By giving them shoes, we are providing them with, often times, the only pair of shoes they will receive for the year. In addition, we want to promote healthy lifestyles for these children and show that them running can be fun. Our mission is to raise money for The C.A.L.F. program and continue to provide these opportunities to the children of North Texas.
