The City of Dana Point adopted the 5th Marine Regiment, the most highly decorated Regiment in Marine Corps history. In 2008, The Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group (DP5MRSG) was born. Due to diminished funding caused by budget cuts, our support organization offers time, talent and financial resources for our American heroes in their time of need, and in doing so, affords human services to fill in the gaps of what the Marine Corps cannot provide.  DP5MRSG is a 501 © (3) Non-profit, Tax ID #26-1476188.  Our organization has ZERO SALARIES and is run 100% by volunteers.  With no bricks and mortar, nearly every dollar donated goes directly to those we serve.

Our heartfelt and compelling missions are:

1. The 5th Marine Regiment has over 5,000 Warriors and their families.  Our morale-building services and opportunities touch the lives of the entire unit. When our Marines are asked, "What do you need most, they respond FOOD." How sad that those who protect our freedoms have food scarcity.  DP5MRSG is here to help. We support our active-duty Marines, Navy Corpsmen and families at Camp Pendleton whether stateside or deployed. Marines have long deployments for up to one year.  Currently our Fighting Fifth Marines are deployed to Darwin, Australia where they are training to be ready when the Nation calls. DP5MRSG provides a proper farewell for the Warrior and his family and are there to welcome them home.  While in country, we send care packages with food, toiletries and treats overseas to let our brave defenders know they are appreciated by a grateful nation and cover 911 emergency and food needs for their families that may arise in their absence. Additional efforts provided are to host baby showers for the women who are sometimes alone for their delivery and far from family for this important life event//give scholarships for summer camp and enrichment programs for military children who are most vulnerable due and carry invisible wounds due to separations, frequent moves and sometimes death of a parent/ hold Thanksgiving Dinner for Marines remaining on base far from home/and give Christmas toys, gifts and dinner for the single Marines and families.  All this and so much more. The needs are great!

2. Support our Wounded Warriors still in the fight at the Wounded Warrior Battalion West by sponsoring opportunities for our combat ill, wounded and injured to reclaim their lives through the mastery of athletics to build confidence and self-esteem. Annually over 1000 “Meals for the Brave” are provided for the Marine Corps Trials held at Camp Pendleton where warrior athletes from all the allied nations gather to compete. This effort lends dignity and esteem for those who have given so much as they continue their rehabilitation.

3. We pay tribute to our fallen and help families cope with the loss of their loved one to make sure our heroes are never forgotten. DP5MRSG built and maintains a Memorial Park on base at Camp Pendleton where Marines brothers, sisters and families gather to honor and pray for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
