The vision at The December 5th Fund is to help families forget cancer, just for one day.

The organization aims to provide a day free from worry and burdens to the families they help - a day where they can just enjoy being together, taking in all the small moments. Led by a small but passionate and caring team, The December 5th Fund meticulously plans out a day of memorable moments for a family dealing with cancer that often prove to be nothing short of amazing. They take the time to learn about each family - what they enjoy doing and what would be meaningful to them - so they can create experiences that will be remembered forever. This day could involve breakfast for 20 at a favorite restaurant, tickets to cheer on their favorite team from all-inclusive seats, a VIP tour at the St. Louis Aquarium, or any number of things!

While the family is out enjoying their day, a team of volunteers from across the region make sure the family comes home to a pleasant and stress-free surprise. It could be a perfectly manicured lawn, a clean and organized garage, or a backyard oasis where they can escape the day-to-day burdens that can pile up while you're trying to provide care for someone dealing with cancer.

After their Great Day, families are set up with a Helping Hands support plan for 3 to 6 months of continuous care as they navigate the difficulties of cancer treatment. This care can include a variety of services such as house cleaning, prepared meals, and laundry, so the families can focus on their loved one's health and not a "to-do" list.

The December 5th Fund works to create lasting memories, long after the burden of cancer is gone and the inspiration for the organization stems from a very special day nearly seven years ago.
