The Mercy Hospital Foundation was formed in 1978 to solicit, receive and administer philanthropic support for the benefit of Mercy Hospital.  Our mission is to raise funds and steward existing resources, to support patient care, projects, and program of Mercy Hospital of Buffalo.  Mercy Hospital is an acute care hospital located in South Buffalo, NY adjacent to the Olmsted-designed Cazenovia Park. The hospital was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1904. From modest beginnings in a renovated home on Tifft Street to its present location on Abbott Road, Mercy now stands as one of our region’s most valuable healthcare resources.

As the largest of the acute-care hospitals of the Catholic Health System, Mercy plays a central role in the CHS mission to improve the health of individuals and communities through high-quality service that is holistic, compassionate, and respectful of human dignity.  With more than 9,000 associates and 1,500 medical providers serving Erie and Niagara counties of New York, Catholic Health is honored to carry on the legacy of care and healing that was started by women religious dating back more than 170 years. The mission of Catholic Health is to reveal the healing love of Jesus to all. While the Diocese of Buffalo is one of Catholic Health’s two Corporate Members as well as Religious Sponsors, Catholic Health is a financially and operationally independent, non-profit organization licensed by New York State.
