The mission of Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation is to protect and preserve the culture, tradition, and living heritage of the North American Indians.  The Foundation demonstrates its commitment to this endeavor by following these objectives:

  • We remain committed to the promise sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski made to Chief Henry Standing Bear and other Native elders in response to their invitation to build and maintain a monument celebrating Native American culture.  Today, the carving of Crazy Horse Memorial stands as a beacon to the world, raising interest and welcoming all to visit, learn, and be inspired by the culture, traditions, and living heritage of the indigenous people.
  • At the Indian Museum of North America, we share the history and contemporary life of the indigenous people of Native Nations throughout the North American continent by mindfully preserving and exhibiting Native art and artifacts.  Additionally, vibrant educational and cultural programs teach worldwide visitors about the culture, traditions, and living heritage of Native Americans.  Visitors also enjoy and learn through the exhibits featured in the Mountain Carving Gallery and the Ziolkowski Family Life museum.
  • Our commitment is to the past, present, and future of Native Nations.  Specifically, at the Indian University of North America, we provide the education, experience, and resources to help young Native American students successfully launch and complete their college pursuits, attain their full potential, and ultimately, give back to their communities.

Together, these initiatives promote understanding, harmony, and healing, under the umbrella of the Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation, a 501(c)3 public charity that does not accept government funding.  We are reliant on donations from private citizens and organizations inspired to join us as we build this vision together.
