The Katherine Jacobson Foundation was founded to honor and celebrate the life and memory of Katie “KJ” Jacobson who died at the young age of 25 from Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (“SUDEP”). Katie exuded compassion and happiness and she loved her family and friends deeply. Her unexpected death has forever left a gaping hole in our lives, and it is our mission to spread awareness of SUDEP and to fund essential research in hopes of one day finding a cure for epilepsy.

This horrific illness claims 1 in 1,000 young adults with epilepsy and 1 in 4,500 children living with uncontrolled epileptic seizures each year. To help raise funds and friends, we host the annual “KJ Night Out” black tie event. Because of the support of generous donors like you, a total of $215,000 has been donated on behalf of the Katherine Jacobson Foundation, since its inception in 2017, to the Medical College of Wisconsin, Mount Sinai in New York, and RUSH University Medical Center in Chicago.
