The Opportunity Center was incorporated in April 1970, by concerned parents and members of the community as a training program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Osceola County. The Opportunity Center's mission statement is "Empowering individuals by providig person-centered vocational training, competitive job placement, educational and social opportunites to adults with developmental disabilites" The agency is dedicated to ensuring that people with disabilities live full and productive lives in the least restrictive environment possible. Services are provided that support adults with disabilities in participating in community activities, gaining access to community-based services and employment, and assisting individuals to reside in their preferred living arrangement. Adult Day Tranining services are intended to support the participation of individuals in valued roles in teh community, including volunteering, job exploration, accessing communiyt resources, and self-advocacy. ADT services include training in the activities of daily liviing, adaptive skills, social skills, and employment.
