The PADDLE Program is a non profit, registered charitable organization started in North Bay, Ontario, Canada in 2007. The vision is simply to improve the quality of life for adults with developmental disabilities and their families, on their terms. Since 2007 we have supported over 60 participants and families and worked diligently to provide quality programming and support 5 days a week 8:30-3:30 p.m. 11 months a year. This type of support is vital to empower participants to assess their own interests, find or create meaningful activities and to be proud members of a broad, inclusive community

Over the course of the last 15 years The PADDLE Program has become a life line for families, a crisis prevention initiative, a movement for people with complex needs to  build social capital in their community and a place to turn where people would advocate without fear for those who felt voiceless or marginalized. On the outside it looks like people attend The PADDLE Program to be cared for and socialize; in reality they attend to belong to something, to be recognized for who they are, to know more people who will love them like family, and treat them with the respect they deserve as contributing members of our community. For some it is a sense of security. Something to ensure that someone will be concerned when they are sick, notice if they are missing and respond to them in crisis.
