Inspired by our Christian mission, we offer the resources and support to lift up our neighbors in crisis. Annually we serve more than 12,000 people with shelter, addiction rehabilitation, clothing, meals, holiday support, and direct client assistance. Each year, we case manage hundreds from crisis to stability and self-sufficiency.

Since 1889, The Salvation Army Austin Area Command (TSA) has provided services to meet the basic needs of homeless and low-income populations in Central Texas.  As the largest non-profit provider of family emergency shelter in Central Texas, each year more than 1,000 unduplicated individuals are sheltered between our two facilities: The Austin Shelter for Women and Children (ASWC) and The Rathgeber Center for Families (RC).

TSA also leads The Passages Program, a community collaboration that provides long-term case management and housing services to vulnerable households who exit shelter and obtain housing, often families with children. Qualified households can participate in Passages for up to 24 months post shelter. In FY 2022, 556 individuals were served through our Passages Program.

Other local programs include Angel Tree Christmas Assistance that served nearly 11,400 children during Christmas 2022, Emergency Disaster Services, and an Adult Rehabilitation which is funded by three Salvation Army Family Stores.
