Circle of Service is The Salvation Army in Kerrville’s largest funding source, outside of Kettles, and is our way of recognizing the involvement and support of our incredible community and the men and women who do so much to take care of those in need.  We are reaching out to see if the San Antonio Aquarium would be interested in donating admission tickets to our Silent Auction again this year.

The Salvation Army in Kerrville began as a service unit in 1967, and due to growth in need for service and the addition of community programs, it became a Corps in 1987 and moved into its current location at 855 Hays Street. Over the past 35 years the programs and services have continued to expand to meet the needs within the community.   The continued support from community supporters, allows to continue “Doing the Most Good” in Kerrville.

Currently, The Salvation Army, through its Social Service office, provides financial assistance for rent and utilities deposits, dental services, and emergency transportation to individuals and families within the county. Food assistance is offered for emergency and ongoing need, as well as season vouchers for clothing through the Family Store. The Red Shield Lodge provides limited overnight stays for men, women and families who are transient or homeless, with case management available to assist in obtaining stable housing.  The Salvation Army provides after-school and day camp programs through the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club. These programs provide tutoring, educational, recreational, cultural and character- building activities to children, ages five to 12 years old, as well as snacks and meals daily.  In 2022, we served over 20,000 meals in our Shelter and Club, helping 92 families with housing assistance, 618 individuals with emergency groceries, 287 children with backpacks, school supplies and shoes, 599 children with Christmas assistance, and hundreds of Hill Country children quality afterschool and camp programming.  We also continue to host four free Community Events through the year, with our last serving over 1,400 people with not only a day of fun, but resource opportunities to prepare for returning to school.

It is with sincere appreciation and thanks that we ask for your support of The Salvation Army’s life-changing programs through a Silent Auction item for the 36th Annual Circle of Service, a Night of Community.  For additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
