The Sommer Foundation hosts an annual 18-hole competitive golf tournament, the sole fund-raising activity that supports our annual scholarship program. A gift card, or auction item donation would be part of our raffle which helps us to raise thousands of dollars towards our below stated mission.
The Sommer Foundation's mission is to provide college or university scholarships to deserving high school seniors who have experienced the death of a parent, and despite the resulting emotional trauma, have performed in an exemplary manner during his or her high school career.
Since the foundation’s inception and inaugural event, we have seen over 3,000 players participate, raised over $600,000 and awarded 145 scholarships to high school seniors who have lost a parent and succeeded in the face of adversity. We are proud and excited to be able to further the education of tomorrow’s leaders. These scholarships have been made possible through the generosity of our sponsors, supporters and golf participants.
Each year, the Sommer Foundation hosts the Sommer Memorial Golf Tournament. It is an 18-hole competitive golf event for players of all skill levels. The golf tournament is the sole fund-raising activity that supports our annual scholarship program and many participants return year after year to contribute to this worthwhile cause.
