At Thrive in Joy we encourage young people to discover their character strengths and the joy of service through programs inspired by the life of Nick Fagnano.
We currently have an on-campus Club Thrive in Joy program at 3 Los Angeles high schools- USC Hybrid High College Prep, Esperanza High College Prep, and Alliance Dr. Olga Mohan High School. All schools serve students from low-income communities. The Clubs are led by students who participate in a summer leadership training program. During the first semester students focus on discovering their character strengths and engaging in activities that prepare them to produce a service project in the second semester. In the second semester students identify a need in their community and develop a project that addresses the need. Students in the club gain self-esteem, leadership experience, college readiness, and entrepreneurial skills that will enhance their ability to transition from high school to the independence and challenges of college.
