The Vault exists to provide a safe and healthy environment for social, academic, and spiritual growth where teens can develop relationships with caring adults who foster a sense of value and purpose and model and coach a hard work ethic, personal responsibility, and community service values. It was designed and constructed and is run side-by-side with the youth to promote a sense of ownership and pride. It strives to foster a sense of value and purpose and to inspire students to embrace their full potential. This includes choosing healthy ways to socialize with friends, working hard in school and employment, strengthening personal responsibility, and looking beyond themselves to serve the community in which they live. The events, services, and opportunities create a fun and safe environment that helps youth develop a sense of confidence and purpose, boost self-esteem, build skills for success and leadership, and be empowered to make the choices that lead to productive and valuable members of society. The Vault leadership desires to see that youth have an alternative to the streets and parking lots at the most basic level. At a deeper level, through team volunteer mentors, the leadership desires to see that teens' core needs of having a sense of value, purpose, and being loved are met. Studies show that when those core needs are met, students are far more likely to have the confidence to say no to drugs, sex, and other potentially life-altering choices. Goals: 1) To create fun opportunities in a safe environment that help teens to develop a sense of purpose and confidence. 2) To use positive influences to help build self-esteem,a sense of personal responsibility, a desire to serve, and skills for success. 3) To empower youth to make wise and healthy choices socially, academically, and spiritually. 4) To provide students with real-world experiences in the areas of leadership, business, trade skills, the arts, and community service.
