The Senior Center was incorporated with the State of Arizona in 1984 as the Pinetop Lakeside Senior Citizens Corporation, as a nonprofit Chartable Corporation. The PLSC original Board of Directors were:  Glynn Vallery, President; Dale Glasgow, Vice-President; Lawrence Fellores, Charles Moore, and Leland Mollakan.

The PLCS building was purchased from the Blue Ridge School District in in 1984. The building was moved to its present location on the School District property and a property lease was signed with the School District and PLCS at that time.

After many struggles during 2021, the center chose to revamp our building and image by changing to the White Mountain Community Center. We still operate as the Pinetop-Lakeside area senior center. However, it is our goal to include activities and programs geared toward serving our entire community and building a place for white mountain residents to share hot meals and social engagement.

The White Mountain Community center is not affiliated with local municipalities and depends strongly on donations from the community to be able to offer services and congregate meals to area seniors.

Mission Goals

“Our mission is to provide for the social and nutritional needs of the senior citizens and other community members of the Pinetop-Lakeside area in a friendly and accessible environment that includes informative, healthy, and recreational activities.”

“ WMCC: With your help we can end food insecurity in the White Mountains.”

Measurable Outcomes achieved by the White Mountain Community Center:

Our center provides hot/nutritionally balanced meals for seniors at low to no cost. Due to reductions in The Older American Acts funding, our program funding has been reduced annually over the last two years. We are currently serving more local seniors at no cost due to the extensive increases in the cost of living in the last two years. Most of our senior citizens are living on fixed social security income less than 1,200 dollars monthly.
