Since its opening in 1979, The Women's Center has responded to the need for services in Tarrant County that address the key issues impacting women and families: violence, crisis, and poverty. Today we operate one of the most comprehensive rape crisis and victim services programs in the country, are a leader in employment programs for unemployed and underemployed people and are a constant source of support for women and families in crisis and transition.

Mission: To inspire and empower women, men, and children to overcome violence, crisis, and poverty so that they can lead happy, healthy, productive lives.

The Women's Center's first job is to believe in people even before they believe in themselves. Next, we aim to inspire hope and courage and to broker opportunities for change and growth. To grow and succeed, people must make their own choices and assume responsibility in their own lives. The Women's Center's programs teach and model new skills, promote emotional healing, and inspire and assist people's "tries" -- supporting people as they learn, develop, and make choices.

The Women's Center has three distinct programming areas:

RAPE CRISIS & VICTIM SERVICES (RCVS)

Direct Service:

* 24-hour Crisis Hotline

* Crisis intervention at hospital forensic rape exam sites

* Individual and group counseling provided by licensed therapists for child and adult victims of sexual assault, abuse, and other violent crimes

* Accompaniment for victims through the criminal justice process

* Comprehensive legal services for victims of violence

During the 2022-2023 Program Year (October 2022 to September 2023), The Center expects to reach the following goals:

1) Our Rape Crisis & Victim Services (RCVS)* direct service programs will serve 4,000 victims of sexual assault, sexual abuse, and other violent crime and their significant others. Direct service includes crisis intervention via the 24-hour Crisis Hotline and at hospital forensic rape exams; individual and group counseling; court accompaniment; and legal services. The RCVS prevention education programs will serve 78,000 children, adults, and professionals, providing these populations with information about how to reduce the risk of sexual assault and sexual abuse as well as how to provide compassionate care to victims of violent crime.

2) Our Employment Solutions (ES) programs (Jobs NOW!, Strengthening Families, and Targeted Skills Training) expect to enroll approximately 380 individuals next year. To measure the impact of our employment programs, The Women's Center tracks information including job placement and retention rates, average wage at placement, and job training completion and/or certification. Employment Solutions will also serve clients through additional services like job readiness workshops.

3) Our General Counseling (GC)* programs will serve 2,900 individuals through our Helpline, legal clinic, individual and group counseling, case management program for homeless children and families and specialized services for older adults.

*Each year we aim to achieve the following outcome for our counseling clients in both our RCVS and GC programs: 80% of clients who complete counseling after participating in an initial assessment and at least three therapy sessions will improve on 75% or more of their treatment goals.
