My name is Jill, and I am the parent of a swimmer on the Woodlands Marlins swim team. I am reaching out to local businesses that have an outstanding reputation in the community. I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you a bit about our team.
The Woodlands Marlins is a summer team for the youth in our community. We are a nonprofit organization that works to foster competitive swimming, good sportsmanship, and teamwork in the youth of The Woodlands, Oakridge, and Montgomery County. The team is the oldest in The Woodlands run completely by parent volunteers. We work to provide an environment for our swimmers to experience both personal growth and the ability to contribute to a team. We are lucky enough to practice at the CISD Natatorium. Sadly, the cost of running a team with over 125+ children is costly.
The team hosts a swim-a-thon each year to raise funds to support the safe functioning of the team and to help lower the cost for families, making the sport more accessible for all who wish to participate. We feel that no parent should have to tell their child that they cannot join a team because it is too expensive. However, fundraisers such as these are only successful with the generous support of local businesses and community. So, this year, we are having a silent auction at our kickoff swim meet.
