The goals of The WunderGlo Foundation are to help find the cure for colon cancer, support cancer warriors and their loved ones, and to promote healthy lifestyle choices for all. Our annual grants, given to cutting-edge research centers and National Cancer Institutions, will ensure that there is always support for those who work tirelessly for the cure. Through our innovative programming, we strive to promote our ideals of positive attitude and healthy living throughout the country and beyond. In sharing Gloria’s story, The WunderGlo Foundation hopes to inspire others to get empowered and fight the disease with optimism, courage, and strength. Through advocacy and patient support, we have reached thousands of patients across the country and beyond.

Our Mission Statement says it all: “The WunderGlo Foundation will not rest until there is a cure for colon cancer.” As primarily an ALL-Volunteer Organization, with ONLY grass-roots donations and no major sponsor, The WunderGlo Foundation proudly leads the charge among our colorectal cancer non-profit peers in funding $1.75 Million Dollars in research, to date, for the cure of colorectal cancer detailed in The Wunder Project; funds that go DIRECTLY to research for The CURE. We will not stop our work until our ultimate goal is reached.

We are also very proud of "The Children of WunderGlo" Programs that support the children of cancer patients, survivors, and those who have passed from cancer. -Since 2016, WunderGlo distributes presents during the holidays to the children of cancer patients (all cancers) throughout the country (also reaching 2-families in Malaysia & Canada). Our Children of WunderGlo Annual Scholarship Program awards scholarships to graduating high school students who have lost a parent to colon cancer and are pursuing their secondary education. To date, The Gloria Borges WunderGlo Foundation has awarded Scholarships to 33-young men and women across the country - in support of their worthy and promising futures.

A brief recap about how WunderGlo first started: On September 19, 2010, then 28-year old Gloria Borges was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer with long odds of survival. Instead of giving up, she fought back, taking an aggressive treatment path that included 62 rounds of chemo, radiation, and three major surgeries. In addition, she transformed her diet, fitness regimen, and every other part of her life to aid her in her mission to beat cancer. Gloria defied all of the odds in the face of a very aggressive disease.

When she first began her battle with cancer, Gloria started a blog called WunderGlo (www.Wunderglo.com) that chronicled her “cancer-killing adventures” and her attitude about treatment and living life to the fullest. The blog went viral. To date, over 100,000 people have visited her site in over 135-different countries. Patients and caregivers from all over the country would email her daily asking for advice and encouragement and Gloria had helped and counseled thousands of patients and their families. Our Foundation proudly continues this personal one-on-one patient support.

In hopes of making an even bigger impact on patients and their loved ones, Gloria launched The WunderGlo Foundation in September of 2011 and co-founded The Wunder Project with Dr. Heinz-Josef Lenz of USC-Norris Comprehensive Center in 2013. Sadly, in early January 2014, Gloria suddenly and unexpectedly passed away due to complications from a blood clot disorder. Before she left this earth, Gloria clearly identified all of her instructions for the Foundation with the directives and plans to achieve the all-important goals that she so brilliantly set forth and handed the charge of this forging organization to me, her mother, Becky Keller.

The WunderGlo Foundation continues to be a personal "organization" by supporting colorectal cancer patients, their families and children throughout the country. We have an online support group called "WunderGlo Chat" and we provide a free Reiki and Guided Meditation Program for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers, which first began at USC Norris & Keck Hospital in 2016, and now reaches patients throughout the country through our virtual Zoom format. We have created The Children of WunderGlo Programming to support the children of cancer patients through our annual scholarships and holiday gifts distribution. -We are in the planning stages to facilitate a private Facebook Support Group for The Young Adult Children of WunderGlo that our WunderGlo Scholarship recipients will be involved with as our Group Administrators.
