The mission of THRU Project is to help youth overcome the challenges of growing up in the foster care system by providing guidance, support and advocacy in order to prepare them for life after foster care.
More often than not, when a young adult ages out of the foster care system they are left to navigate life on their own. THRU Project wants to help ease their transition into adulthood. We do this by providing a volunteer mentor to each of our clients, offering free cell phones, free bus passes, life skill workshops, and housing. We serve youth who are in foster care or have aged out, ages 14 and over. Our organization is unique because we follow through with former foster youth once they leave care. Statistics for this population are staggering, and THRU Project wants to make sure these youth are not being forgotten. THRU Project has served almost 800 youth since its inception in 2011!
