Founded in 1989, the Torrance Chinese School has served the South Bay community through its K-12 Chinese-language & cultural program as well as offering conversation and enrichment courses for non-Mandarin speaking adults.  TCS students attend classes on the West High School campus every Saturday during the regular school year.  In addition to our Mandarin Chinese (writing & speaking) classes, we offer conversational-only classes.  Students are also able to select coursework in chess, and charcoal & pencil drawing.

The primary mission of the Torrance Chinese School is to strive to produce promising students with diverse skills and backgrounds who become contributing members of the South Bay community.

Studying another language and culture creates a spirit of diversity, openness and inclusion to our students and adds to the development of young minds. Sadly, many of our public schools do not offer Chinese as a foreign language and TCS's extracurricular weekend studies is the only affordable option open to parents.

With an enrollment of approximately 150 students, TCS is one of the largest language schools in Southern California.  Our student body includes families living in the city of Torrance, the beach cities, Palos Verdes Peninsula, Harbor City, Carson, El Segundo and Gardena.

The school is led by parent volunteers and friends.
