Fifty five years ago, five families began a small cooperative where children could play together under the watchful eyes of parent volunteers. In 1979, Trinity Playgroup incorporated as a separate non-profit corporation.
Trinity Playgroup’s mission is to care for, educate, and enrich the lives of pre-school children, with a view to meeting their physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs at different stages of development. Trinity Playgroup is a State licensed, private, nonprofit, nonsectarian, play-based preschool that serves all children equally. We offer a continuous educational experience that is based in play to meet the social, academic, and emotional needs of children of each developmental level from 18 months until they are prepared to enter Kindergarten.
Trinity Playgroup is an inclusive, collaborative community. We respect diversity in individuals, families, neighborhoods, and nations. We embrace children, families, and teachers with diverse backgrounds because we know that everyone learns best from experiencing a world larger than their own.
Our teachers have vast experience in the field of early childhood education and comprehensive understanding of the continuum of child development. We reflect on our practice, engage in ongoing professional development, stay current about emerging standards in early childhood education, and prioritize continuous positive improvement for our school.
Trinity Playgroup is supportive of families and their needs. We encourage parent participation in the school, thus cultivating the cooperative spirit which links teachers, children and families. Our Board considers issues of governance, improvement, and equity with an ongoing commitment to open dialogue and innovative approaches.
