The UGA Student American Veterinary Medical Association (SAVMA) Chapter is a student-run organization that acts as the governing body for student issues within the College of Veterinary Medicine and is the umbrella organization for all of the veterinary student professional organizations and clubs. SAVMA's goal is to enhance student learning while enabling the College of Veterinary Medicine to better serve the greater Athens community. SAVMA does this by funding all of the student clubs within the CVM, such as the Canine Club, the Student Chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the Student Chapter of the National Association for Black Veterinarians, Vets for Pets and People, Broad Spectrum, and many more. Additionally, SAVMA sponsors seminars, speakers, conferences, and learning opportunities that enable veterinary students to enhance their learning outside of the classroom. SAVMA also provides scholarships for veterinary students, funds projects that serve the Athens community, and donates to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the University of Georgia.
